In 1853 James Boag commenced his brewing tradition on the banks of the Esk River in Launceston, Tasmania. Today our devotion to the brewer's craft continues. Tasmania's cool climate and island remoteness are responsible for the superior quality ingredients that are sourced from the island. Hops are grown in Tasmania and supply the essential and distinctive bitter beer characteristics. Local barley is malted to supply the body of the beers and the water is sourced from Tasmania's plentiful highland river system. These natural advantages, combined with the latest brewing technology and a passion for quality, are the basic inputs in each Boag's beer.
